Ed, the Birmingham Education Foundation, stays the course
In recent days and months filled with controversy about the fate of Birmingham’s governance, school superintendent, teachers and, most important, its students, the Birmingham Education Foundation (BEF) continues to move ahead with the four important strands identified by parents for their children:
- Parental involvement
- College and Career-Focused High Schools
- Professional Development for School Leaders
- Pre-AP Initiative at middle and secondary-school level
A recent letter from the organization, known as Ed, confirmed that this important & stable resource for Birmingham City Schools is still moving forward and outlined the key contacts for each of those efforts.
As the letter states: “The Birmingham Education Foundation is moving in the right direction, a direction consistent with both its support for the students and families within BCS, but also with its role as a critical friend to the leadership and staff of the schools, With the difficult work before us, Ed has the energy, the team, and the support needed to make a difference in Birmingham City Schools.”
We are proud of the role that the Community Foundation played in seeking community input through our Yes We Can! Birmingham initiative. We continue to support BEF because of its important role in providing resources to help our children get the education they and their parents want.
Stay tuned through the BEF website for updates or make your gift today through BEF or through the Community Foundation to support success for all children along the education pipeline.
