As the week of Thanksgiving came to an end, the Chronicle of Philanthropy and Network for Good released data showing that nonprofits received 61 percent more in gifts on line than they did in 2011. Included in that analysis were gifts to the Community Foundation and more than 8,700 other nonprofits that use Network for Good to handle our on-line gifts.
The number of gifts was up as well — by 16 percent — according to the Chronicle’s analysis. One cause may be giving toward recovery efforts in the wake of the far-reaching devastation of Hurricane Sandy. But the analysis — and our experience — shows that gifts are being made across the board, not just to disaster-related organizations.
This is good news for all nonprofit organizations, which tend to receive most of their gifts at the end of each year. You can follow the comparison here as the Chronicle continues their week-by-week analysis through December.
Thank you to everyone who has made gifts to the Community Foundation throughout 2012. We appreciate every new fund-holder as well as those who make gifts to support the Results we all want for our community!
