Alabama Association of Nonprofits

Strengthening our nonprofit partners
The Community Foundation was a leader in 1996 in establishing a center to provide technical expertise and increase the effectiveness of more than 19,000 nonprofit organizations in Alabama and continues as a strong partner today with the Alabama Association of Nonprofits.
Headquartered in Birmingham, the Association serves members across the state and is dedicated to strengthening and supporting nonprofits to serve their communities. The main office is in Birmingham, but members can access services by telephone, e-mail, on line, visits or participation in programs held in a variety of locations.
Services for Association members include:
- Professional development tracks based on higher-education and graduate-level curriculum, leading to a certification of core competencies as defined by our academic consortium partners and the Association
- Advocacy efforts centered on issues important to all nonprofits
- Substantial member benefits, group purchasing opportunities and vendor discounts for nonprofit members
- Mentoring of young professionals for careers in the nonprofit sector
- Board matching efforts for civic-minded corporate executives, young professionals and community members.
- Organizational strategic planning, assessment and consultations, from technology and human resource issues to marketing, financial and board governance.
Special events include the Nonprofit Summit and Alabama Gives Day.
