A G Gaston Boys and Girls Club, $20,000, to support hiring Educational Outreach Director for the Every Member Every Year Program, working with schools to identify youth at risk of dropping out and then with parents, promoting high school graduation and providing educational resources.
Alabama Ballet, $25,000 (O) for this nationally known ballet company.
Alabama CASA, $10,000 (O) for this program representing the legal interests of children who are abused or neglected.
Alabama Dance Council, $10,000 to support the Alabama Dance Festival, which engages the community in the art of dance through performances, master classes and workshops for artists, teachers and others.
Alabama Gospel Music Cultural Arts Center, $7,000 to help develop its organizational infrastructure including hiring an executive director and commissioning an architectural design plan.
Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, $15,000 (O) for this organization preserving the distinctively-American art form of jazz.
Alabama Kidney Foundation, $9,000 for the Financial Assistance Program, which is facing increasing requests due to the economy.
Alabama Lawyers for the Arts, $4,000 toward cost of computer and database software for this organization serving 280 Alabama artists and 80 art organizations.
Alabama Wildlife Center, $7,000 (O) to support the only statewide wildlife rehabilitation center in Alabama.
Alzheimer's of Central Alabama, $7,000 for art therapy programs in collaboration with VSA arts of Alabama, including publication of a guide to establishing an arts program which will be distributed through the Assisted Living Association of Alabama.
Arc of Walker County, $20,000 toward cost of vans which provide paratransit services for the elderly and disabled, especially in rural areas of Walker County.
Arise Citizens' Policy Project, $30,000 toward local match for Ford and Mott Foundation grants for strategic planning, including policy analysis on tax and budget issues.
Auntie Litter, $5,000, as local match for the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Act grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Bare Hands Gallery, $5,000 (O) for outreach efforts and supplies for this organization with all-volunteer staff.
Bessemer Classical School, $10,000 (O) to support school year, afterschool and summer activities for first through fourth graders.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, $20,000 (O) toward work to make difference in lives of children ages 5 to 18.
Birmingham AIDS Outreach, $20,000 toward AIDING Alabama program, which protects and promotes the legal rights of Alabamians living with HIV/AIDS.
Birmingham Center for Affordable Housing, $26,000 toward costs of establishing a satellite office in Ensley to hold weekly foreclosure prevention clinics and serve communities which lack legitimate, HUD-approved housing counseling services.
Birmingham Children's Theatre, $20,000 (O) for organization serving Pre-K through eighth grade students.
Birmingham Museum of Art, $10,000 toward cost of 60th anniversary publication and handbook, stressing use of collection as educational resource.
Blount County Board of Education, $20,000 for Enhanced Professional Learning Program, providing training for staff so they can increase student engagement in learning and student achievement.
Catalyst for Birmingham, $5,000 for Community Garden Coalition for Birmingham, in collaboration with West Urban Garden and Jefferson County Family Court to create a community garden for at-risk youth.
Center for Education and Performing Arts Management Corporation/ The Pell City Center, $7,000 (O) to serve residents of St. Clair, Shelby, Blount and Jefferson counties.
Childcare Resources, $25,000 (O) for organization that assists childcare providers and the families who use their services.
Children's Harbor, $20,000 toward hiring director of financial development and public relations for this organization serving families and individuals with seriously ill children.
Children's Policy Cooperative of Jefferson County, $10,000 (O) toward personnel needs essential to more scientific, data-driven decisions about children's policies.
Community Entrepreneurship Institute, $17,000 for Urban Business Incubator serving small emerging or existing businesses with training, office furniture, supplies and equipment.
Community Grief Support Service, $10,000 toward hiring Clinical Director to expand counseling, clinical services and groups for bereaved adults in West End, Bessemer and North Shelby County.
Conservation Alabama Foundation, $7,000 toward expansion of the Conservation Ambassador program to recruit, educate and activate leaders in the Birmingham area around the issues of transportation and environment health, as part of a statewide network.
Educational Arts Corporation, $5,000 to implement Filmmaking 101 program in six Birmingham City schools, placing Resident Artists at each school and teaching students how to produce documentaries about social issues that directly affect them.
Episcopal Housing Foundation, (Episcopal Place), $10,000 toward salary of part-time Development Director to acquire additional funding.
Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens, $7,000 for the Preparing Learning Acquiring Networking and Training Program, which uses mentors to work with older adults who live in institutionalized facilities and children with various limitations.
Gateway, $20,000 toward purchase of a new telephone system.
Grace House Ministries, $20,000 (O) for food, shelter, transportation, clothing, tutoring and counseling for the girls ages 6 to 18 who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect.
Greater Alabama Council Boy Scouts of America, $9,000 toward Youth Leadership Development Program, designed to expose high school students to life, personal management and group leadership skills. 
Greater Birmingham Friend's Chapter of AMBUCS, $7,000 (O) for organization that provides therapeutic tricycles to children and adults with disabilities and builds wheelchair ramps for homes.
Heart Gallery of Alabama, $10,000 (O) for organization recruiting adoptive families for children living in foster care.
Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama, $15,000 (O) for operating costs including the Information and Referral Gateway serving the immigrant Latino community.
Hoover Board of Education, $15,000 toward Communities Program, a family literacy program providing English and literacy classes to ESL students, parents and pre-school aged siblings in Hoover City Schools.
Jones Valley Urban Farm, $20,000 (O) for organization providing educational programs for Birmingham youth and for adults who are interested in starting community gardens.
Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham, $15,000 for programs teaching Birmingham students in grades K-12 work readiness, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and the importance of staying in school.
Leeds Arts Council, $7,000 for multi-discipline art programs for the public.
Literacy Council of Central Alabama, $20,000 (O) to sustain work on the regional literacy plan.
Lovelady Center, $25,000 (O) for organization serving 300 women, recently released from prison and now in transitional housing with their children.
Main Street Birmingham, $9,000 toward hiring a Development Assistant for the organization serving Avondale, East Lake, West End, North Birmingham, Parkway East, Titusville and Woodlawn.
McCoy Center for Community Service, $7,000 (O) toward utility and maintenance costs for center which houses social service agencies serving youth, the elderly and the mentally ill.
Music Opportunity Foundation, $10,000 (O) to maintain services of String Academy Program in Birmingham and Jefferson County Schools.
My Father's House Foundation, $5,000 for Savvy Teen Assertive Resilient Self-reliant program (S.T.A.R.S), which teaches independent and transitional living skills, provides job coaching and community-based training for at-risk youth and young adults ages 12-22.
Neighborhood Network (NorthStar Youth Ministries), $6,000 toward Camp NorthStar summer educational enrichment program for high schools students in Smithfield community and Western Birmingham
Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama, $165,000 over three years for general support and development of planned partnership with Samford University's Brock School of Business to strengthen the organization’s educational component.
Restoration Academy, $22,000 (O) for this organization currently serves students from Lovelady Center and Grace House Ministries at no charge. 
Salvation Army, $9,000 toward Employment Group Counseling, which offers peer-to-peer support for individuals who have lost their jobs.
Shelby County Board of Education, $15,000 toward Toyota Family Literacy Program, which stresses learning English and empowering the parent as the child’s most important educational partner.
Sight Savers America, $16,000 for organization which serves children who have been identified in need of comprehensive follow-up eye care services.
Space One Eleven, $17,000 (O) for organization serving artists, audiences and low-income youth through free arts programs.
St. Clair Children's Advocacy Center, $10,000 toward salaries for parent educators for the Bear Facts for Families Program, a home visitation program which focuses on child abuse prevention and services for families in poverty and health.
Triumph Services, $4,000 toward hiring Employment Placement Specialist to help match jobs to individuals with developmental disabilities.
United Methodist Center for Senior Citizens, $14,000 (O) for organization serving increasing frail and fragile clients with day care and transportation.
United Way of Central Alabama, $120,000 toward campaign to support allocations to United Way agencies, including $90,000 for 2011 and 2012 Builder’s Society matches.
Very Special Arts of Alabama, $25,000 (O) toward organization serving individuals with chronic medical conditions that require frequent hospitalization or medical intervention.
VOICES for Alabama's Children, $9,500 toward support for training for nonprofits in how to use Alabama Kids Count Data to guide their priorities, document progress, identify emerging issues and trends in specific areas of child well-being and attract funding for their programs.
YouthServe, $10,000 (O) toward organizations promoting volunteerism, leadership and activism among young people so they can make a positive difference in their communities.
