The cake was great and so is our future Since 1959, your community foundation has transformed private giving into public good -- seeding parks, enriching education, expanding arts and more. As an article in The Birmingham News reported on Sunday, May 10, and an editorial on Friday, May 15, reaffirmed, this work involves the support of so many individuals, families, businesses who see the Community Foundation as the best way to make their charitable giving count.
What's ahead for the next 50 years? Next generation consultant Rebecca Ryan hit the high points of key trends for the coming years at our annual meeting on May 11, and we all were inspired by video and personal statements of what our youngest citizens imagine. Rebecca Ryan also provided later reflections in a "Viewpoint" piece for The News.
-- Join visionary leaders who are sharing their dreams and their gifts to create transformational change through Community Catalyst Funds. This is a new tool for donors who want to make sure that their gifts are targeted on high-impact initiatives and projects that have the power to transform this community. These efforts, still under development, are in addition to our regular twice-a-year Community Fund grantmaking.
-- Tell us what you imagine for our community on our Imagine blog, where you can see what others imagine and share your own vision for a brighter future. What things should never change? What is your wildest hope? Share it with us. Or click here for a quick look at some video imaginings and away to share your ideas with others.
-- Sign up to receive weekly e-bulletins on 50 Ways to Love Your Community, or sign up for the RSS feed from this website. From now throughout our anniversary year, we'll be sharing the latest and greatest reasons to love this place we call home.
-- Imagine 50 Project. Stay tuned to see how you can participate with photography, film, the spoken word, all the ways that we can be inspired and moved by the thoughts, talents, dreams, and imaginations of the people of greater Birmingham.
