SPECIAL PURPOSE FUNDS

In times of crisis,
your Community Foundation helps concerned citizens respond to situations ranging from the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina to budget cuts that leave band students in a poor school system without musical instruments to play.

In times of sorrow, your Community Foundation helps friends and family grieve together through memorial or scholarship funds that honor the name and accomplishments of individuals.

In times of inspiration and challenge,
your Community Foundation brings people together to support a common cause – support for breast cancer survivors, the needs of women and girls or the creation of a new urban park.

Sometimes an individual with an idea creates the spark, as a local educator did in responding to news reports of funding cuts in Birmingham City Schools.  Sometimes it takes a group, like the young African-American professionals who make up the Birmingham Change Fund.

In each case, we can find an answer that helps caring people give to the causes they care about.
