DONOR ADVISED FUNDS

Assets of a private foundation may be used to establish a donor advised fund or any other type of grantmaking fund at The Community Foundation, including Community Fund, field of interest fund, scholarship fund or designated fund.  Grantmaking funds of The Community Foundation curently start at $15,000 for all funds except scholarships ($50,000 minimum) and average just under $400,000 in size. The largest currently is a Community Fund totaling $26.5 million.

Depending on the type of fund that is established, the private foundation's Board of Directors may stay involved in setting grantmaking priorities, advising on grant awards and assessing grant success.

Engineer supports future with scholarships
abstract_116942.gif
When Willie Grant decided to become an engineer, back in the 1950s, it wasn’t a common or easy choice for a black youth.  Today, he looks back on a successful career with gratitude for the doors that were opened to him in order to make that career possible.

Yet the need still exists to encourage young African-Americans interested in the sciences, in areas such as engineering and medicine.  With the Seeds of Love Scholarship Fund, Grant is giving a boost to the next generation, especially in the South. more
