Individuals and Families Are Economically Secure

Past Grants & Initiatives
The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham continues to work toward economic security for individuals and families. Seed funding, advocacy, partnerships and on-going involvement with projects and initiatives include:
- Housing Stability Fund, created in response to the 2008 Recession, as a way to help people remain in their homes.
- Disaster Recovery funds, established to support rebuilding lives and livelihoods in the wake of a 1998 tornado in western Jefferson County and used in 2005 as survivors of Hurricane Katrina relocated to the Birmingham area. The Community Foundation expanded tornado recovery funds to serve our region and our state in April 2011, an effort that continues in the wake of January 2012 tornadoes.
You can be part of future efforts to help individuals and families achieve and maintain economic security by giving in any amount to support this Result through our on-line service. Gifts to the Emergency Response Fund are dedicated to long-term support for the needs of survivors of 2011 and 2012 storms and other natural disasters that may occur in the future. Gifts to the Housing Stability Fund continue to focus on housing needs in the Birmingham region.
