Ryan praises parks and possibilities for spring

Rebecca Ryan is a fan of “the ‘Ham” as she called Birmingham when she visited for the Community Foundation’s 50th anniversary in 2009. In an August 2011Rebecca Ryan on stage at Community Foundation 50th anniversary in 2009 speech to national chambers of commerce in Los Angeles, she gave a shout-out to our whole community and to the work of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham on the Three Parks Initiative.

Ryan challenges all of us to seek multi-generational approaches as we emerge from a “winter” of tough times. We’re glad that Prize2theFuture gave us the opportunity to get the best creative ideas from a wide range of people and we look forward to continuing to hear what our community wants for itself.

The Three Parks Initiative provided an opportunity for leadership, but the true heroes were the many partners who stepped up with gifts to shape the future. Railroad Park, Red Mountain Park and Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve will serve many generations and transform our community forever.
